Spring is here again, the season of new life and growth. The boys and girls in Senior Infants planted cress seeds. We were surprised to see how fast they grow. Each day, a pupil from our class waters them. Our daffodils, tulips and primroses that we planted last October have also started to grow.
We are learning about the different signs of Spring. For St. Brigid’s Day, we learned St. Brigid’s Song and sang it at the Grandparents Day Prayer Service for our families. We read all about the life of St.Brigid and we performed it as a Drama in our class. For Art, we painted and decorated butterflies which are on display in the school hall for the month of March. We went outside to our school garden and searched for Spring flowers that are starting to grow. We hope to visit the People’s Park in Dun Laoghaire later this term to investigate signs of Spring in the park.
In Power Hour, we were working on the theme of ‘Clothes’ with Ms. O Connor. We labelled and wrote descriptive sentences based on pictures of clothes from magazines and made Clothes Books. See our display below or alternatively in the Power Hour Room.
We had a St. Patrick’s Day Assembly on the 16th of March. We made shamrocks in class and learned a poem called ‘An t-Seamróg’ which we recited in the hall for the pupils in Junior Infants, First and Second Class.
On Wednesday, the 28th of March and Thursday, the 29th of March, the pupils of Senior Infants made Easter chocolate nests using Rice Krispies, chocolate and mini Easter eggs. They were delicious!!!
